The Point San Luis Lighthouse creates the most spectacular backdrop for live concerts in San Luis Obispo County. Going on our 5th year of sold-out concerts, this series attracts a cross section of locals and tourists who seek the very finest the area has to offer.
Live at the Lighthouse is powered by volunteers. Board members from Point San Luis Lighthouse Keepers and other volunteers work to make sure that these concerts provide the much needed revenue for the restoration and upkeep of the light station, a true Central Coast treasure. Your dollars go directly into the preservation of the incredible history of this site, and it’s majestic landscape.
Join us for a docent-led tour of the buildings and grounds of the historic Point San Luis Light Station.
Enjoy a scenic ride up the Lighthouse Road in a SLO SafeRide van to the Point San Luis Lighthouse where you will be met by a docent and led on a personalized tour of the buildings and grounds of this historic site established in 1890.
The Point San Luis Lighthouse Keepers welcomes you to join our docent-led interpretive tours to experience a rich history of the beautifully restored Lighthouse, the Hornhouse, and other structures. Our tours will give you a glimpse into the lives of Lighthouse Keepers and their families while helping keep our jewel of the Central Coast preserved and protected. Point San Luis is part of the Port San Luis Harbor District.
Our mission is to restore, preserve, maintain, and operate the Point San Luis Lighthouse Station, circa 1890, as a historical, educational, and recreational site, for the use and enjoyment of the public through tours, events, and educational programs. Point San Luis is part of the Harbor District’s vision of maintaining a sustainable harbor that preserves our marine heritage and character.
We are a 501(c)3 charitable organization and are supported by people like you. Proceeds from tours, weddings, memberships, events, donations, and special events all go into preserving the Lighthouse and it’s history.
As with most theaters, ticket sales alone cannot keep us afloat. We rely on other income to help fund our productions and ongoing expenses. No one in our organization gets paid, and we are a non-profit business, so all money goes toward purchasing Rights and Royalties, set construction and decoration, advertising, printing, costuming, etc. Your donation is tax-deductible, and can be earmarked for the General Fund or for any area that you specify. If you are interested in sponsoring a show, please contact us.

Mandala Rhythms Circle
An Expressive, Creative, Meditative Experience
Mandala: Ancient Sanskrit word meaning “sacred circle.”
Join our sacred circle for a journey of drumming, rhythm-making, improvisation, and vocal expression, awakening your deepest sense of self—your true nature—to flow in harmony with Life.
"Mandala Rhythms Circle" is a unique, guided experience where we explore the magic of co-creating music-making in a welcoming, supportive space. Facilitated by Dee DiGioia of Mindful Kindful YOUniversity, this gathering blends the joyful energy of our "Joyful Rhythms" Drum Circles with the soulful connection of our "Heart and Soul" Song Circles.
Scientific research increasingly validates what ancient cultures and traditions have long known: rhythm, song, and connection have profound effects on our mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.
DRUMMING & RHYTHM EXPLORATION:
Embark on a journey of self-discovery, creativity, and joyful connection that resonates deep within your soul.
Dee will gently guide you through drumming and rhythm activities that inspire playful exploration. There will also be opportunities for free-form, creative expression, where you can let your spirit lead the way.
New to drumming? Never touched a drum before? You’re in the right place. Our circles welcome all experience levels, especially those who have always felt drawn to rhythm but never had the chance to explore it. There’s no need for prior experience or technical skill—this is a space to explore and express freely without worrying about “getting it right.”
Unlike traditional drumming circles, this is a structured, intentional experience designed to inspire connection, build community, and nourish the spirit.
VOCAL EXPLORATION:
Discover the vibrational magic of your voice through:
- Vocal toning
- Humming
- Chanting
- Singing simple, heartfelt songs
Songs are taught through the natural flow of repetition—one voice begins, and others join when the melody feels familiar and inviting.
And don’t worry if you don’t consider yourself a singer—this isn’t about skill or performance. All voices are welcome—no matter how you think you sound. It’s about showing up, expressing yourself, and feeling the power of rhythm and song in the collective energy of the circle.
Together, we sing as long as the song feels alive within us, allowing it to flow naturally into meditative rhythms or sacred silence. In these moments of stillness, we invite space for reflection, contemplation, meditation, or prayer, carrying the song’s essence forward in quiet connection.
PARTICIPATION
Everyone is warmly invited to participate in a way that feels most natural to them. Whether you play a drum, shake a rattle, hum or sing softly, or simply listen - your presence adds to the vibrancy of the circle.
Feel the uplifting energy as rhythm and song resonate through your heart, invigorate your body, and nourish your soul!
DRUMS PROVIDED
If you have a drum, bring one -- floor drums (djembes) or hand-held drums (frame or shamanic drums) are welcome. But don't worry - I have plenty of extras available if you don't have any!

Attuning to Gratitude
YOUniversity Enrichment Class and Integrative Sound Journey
Monthly on the 4th Tuesday
Join us for an important discussion on the power of practicing gratitude followed by an integrative Sound Journey, held in a welcoming space of compassion and connection. Gratitude is a frequency that aligns us with many positive emotions such as joy, awe, and inner harmony.
Gratitude - a force for change
Gratitude is not just an emotion but a dynamic force that brings joy, love, and optimism, helping to protect us from destructive emotions like envy and resentment. It profoundly impacts our mental and emotional health, making it an invaluable tool for shifting our mindset toward well-being.
When Life Gets Tough
While it’s easy to feel grateful during good times, it’s especially important to practice gratitude during challenging times. Renowned gratitude researcher Robert Emmons explains:
"In the face of demoralization, gratitude has the power to energize. In the face of brokenness, gratitude has the power to heal. In the face of despair, gratitude has the power to bring hope."
When life feels extra challenging, gratitude can help us cope, offering a profound shift toward healing and resilience.
Why Practice Daily Gratitude?
Research shows that practicing gratitude regularly brings numerous physical, emotional, and social benefits:
- Emotional Well-Being: Increases happiness, reduces stress, and fosters resilience.
- Physical Health: Boosts immunity, improves sleep, lowers blood pressure, and increases energy.
- Social Connection: Strengthens relationships, encourages kindness, and deepens our sense of connection to others and the universe.
- And so much more!
Gratitude helps us focus on the positive, cultivating more joy, peace, and abundance in our daily lives.
A Harmonious Fusion of Artistry, Science, and Integrative Sound
Scientific research over recent decades has increasingly validated what ancient cultures and traditions have long understood: the transformative power of sound.
Gratitude has a vibrational frequency of 540 Hz, one of the highest frequencies we can achieve, similar to the frequency of love. Quantum physics shows that everything in the universe, including our thoughts and emotions, emits vibrations that interact with the energetic field around us.
In our immersive journey of sound instruments—including crystal singing bowls, Himalayan bowls, gongs, chimes, and other sacred instruments—are artistically blended to create a soothing, restorative, and therapeutic experience. Through the harmonious fusion of artistry, science, and sound energy, revitalizing energy emerges as you come into attunement with the vibration of gratitude naturally restoring balance, inner peace, and harmony to your body’s natural, healthy vibrational state—your true nature.
OPTIONAL: Daily Reflection Practice for 4 Weeks
After the Sound Journey, you will be invited to continue the practice with a month of daily gratitude reflection. Through journaling, mindful awareness, and intentional pauses, you will cultivate a deeper connection to the abundance within and around you.
When we reunite in four weeks, we will gather again for another Sound Journey to amplify and renew our gratitude practice, sharing insights from our reflections and expanding our capacity for joy, peace, and appreciation.

About our “YOUniversity” Enrichment Classes & Sound Journeys
Our Sound Journeys are an enriching experience with a thoughtfully chosen theme to explore before the Sound Journey. This holistic approach deepens your experience, making it more meaningful and impactful for personal growth and self-care.
The practices and principles introduced provide opportunities for self-discovery, reflection, and intention-setting.
Complementary practices may include:
- Mindful awareness principles and practices
- Breathwork
- Vocal toning
- Creative exploration through art, movement, rhythm, or voice
- Reflective journaling for fostering integration and personal insight
Follow-up discussions allow space for sharing personal insights, asking questions, and connecting with others. These moments of reflection help us recognize our commonalities and remind us that we are not alone in our journey.
The best part? These takeaways can be seamlessly integrated into daily life, supporting you in navigating challenges with greater ease and transforming your life into harmony with your true nature.
The Sound Journey then follows, serving as a powerful integration of the lessons, practices, and discussions—helping you embody and deepen the experience on a much deeper level.

A Soulful Journey of Reflection, Connection, and Integrative Sound Alchemy for Well-being
Step into the wisdom of the East—the direction of new beginnings, inspiration, and possibility. This immersive experience invites you on a journey of self-discovery, connection, and deep integration through ancient teachings and sound healing.
Rooted in the time-honored Wisdom Teachings of the Four Directions, this gathering honors the rhythms of nature and the rhythm within you. As the first in a four-part seasonal series, we begin in the East—Spring—a time of renewal, clarity, and vision. Join the Weeds in celebrating St. Patrick’s month with Party For Paddy. This West Coast up and coming ensemble is prepared to take you on a musical journey which begins and ends in ancient Ireland. While rooted in the Irish tradition, our trip will ‘cross the pond’ into the United States where these three accomplished instrumentalists will explore folk seasonings from Appalachian mountain hollers to occasional hints of modern jazz. The performance will also weave in cutting edge modern Celtic compositions from the trio. Hailing from Carmel, California, the Weeds consist of fiddler John Weed (Molly’s Revenge/New String Project) and sons, Tyler Weed (Mandolin, Irish tenor banjo, guitar) and Evan Weed (Celtic harp, piano, melodica). Watch the folk process unfold as John enjoys a musical conversation with two of the next generation’s rising stars. Hearing sophisticated arrangements of driving Irish jigs, reels, and slower heartfelt selections, you’ll leave uplifted, knowing the future is in good hands as Weeds Trio raises your spirits, honoring this tradition with a vital, new voice.
John Weed, fiddler for Molly’s Revenge and New World String Project, has spent the last 30 years immersed in various fiddle styles. With an affinity for folk traditions, John’s exploration has emphasized Irish, Scottish, Swedish, and Old-Time fiddle. While he holds a bachelor’s degree of music from CSU Chico, the musical education that charted his path began through a long series of Irish sessions. There, he learned the nuance of aural passing of melodies and the tradition of conversing in a deeply musical manner. John’s passion for the vital expressiveness of the session lead to performing across the United States and internationally. In addition to being a full time performer and instructor, John is currently on faculty at Palenke Arts, a multicultural arts organization in Seaside, California.
Tyler Weed was raised in a musical family. His journey began on guitar which quickly led to earning money backing his father on fiddle. He then discovered flat-picking melodies while also developing a passion for jazz. This allowed him to be equally comfortable playing in the old-world fiddle styles as well as using swing-accompaniment on Irish melodies. World Strides Heritage Festival presented Tyler with first-place Maestro Solo Guitar award in Anaheim, Ca. 2022. Heavily influenced by Bay Area mandolin great Marla Fibish, Tyler developed nuanced traditional Irish tunes on mandolin — picking patterns for the different dance tunes, tone projection, and styling, which continues in his playing today. Tyler represented the next generation of mandolin players at his performance at 2023 San FranciscoInstrumental Festival of Mandolins. He has since journeyed into the world of tenor banjo. His banjo style can be characterized by ornate, percussive triplet stylings with a driving, yet hypnotic groove.
Evan Weed is the youngest in the Weeds musical clan. Like Tyler, Evan grew up on the road, accompanying his father’s touring bands to festivals, performing arts centers, house concerts, and many fiddle camps. During the pandemic, Evan completely immersed himself in a world of practice on piano, Celtic harp, jazz drumming, and Latin percussion. In addition to playing harp and melodica in John Weed’s Celtic Teen Band “The McMonarchs”, Evan worked tirelessly on piano. Evan won a position in the nationally ranked SFJazz High School All Star Big Band, becoming only the third eighth grader in four decades to be selected. Evan was later presented SFJazz Education Award spring 2024, voted on by his peers and directors for superior dedication, attitude, and musicianship. Evan’s original composition, “Ask The Professor”, was recently featured in the SFJazz winter concert after Evan arranged and orchestrated for the 19 piece big-band. Evan recently became a 2025 National Young Arts Winner in the categories of composition and jazz piano.

Kindness Inside - Out
YOUniversity Enrichment Class and Integrative Sound Journey
Join me for a heart-opening Kindness practice and discussion combined with a deeply soothing Integrative Sound Journey, held in a welcoming space of compassion and connection.
Why Practice Kindness Meditation?
Practicing kindness is one of the most direct routes to happiness. Research suggests that kind people tend to be more satisfied with their relationships and their lives in general. While we all have a natural capacity for kindness, we don’t always take the steps to nurture and express it as much as we could.
Our Kindness Meditation - is a variation of the meditation also referred to as The Loving Kindness Meditation, Heartfulness practice, or Metta Meditation. It helps cultivate the capacity for kindness in relating to others at home, in our communities, and in the world, by fostering a deep sense of connection—not just with loved ones, but also with acquaintances, strangers, as well as with oneself! It’s a powerful practice for expanding compassion, reducing stress, and opening the heart, ultimately enhancing both personal well-being and the well-being of those around us. This is the ‘Kindful’ in Mindful Kindful YOUniversity!
This practice is a refuge, guiding you to cultivate warmth, compassion, and acceptance for yourself and others.
Rooted in both ancient wisdom and modern science, research has found thatLoving Kindness Meditation offers profound mental, emotional, and physical benefits, including:
- Enhancing Positive Emotions – Cultivates love, joy, gratitude, hope, and inner peace.
- Fostering Emotional Resilience – Helps respond to challenges with greater ease and kindness.
- Supporting Mental Wellness – Reduces stress, anxiety, PTSD symptoms, and depression.
- Easing Physical Discomfort – Lowers chronic pain, migraines, and tension.
- Encouraging Self-Compassion – Softens self-criticism and nurtures a deep sense of worthiness.
- Strengthening Connection – Enhances empathy, social bonds, and overall happiness.
Integrative Sound Journey
Accompanied by a live soundscape of healing vibrations, this journey invites you to relax, open your heart, and immerse yourself in restorative frequencies from crystal singing bowls, Himalayan bowls, gongs, chimes, and other sacred instruments.
Come experience the transformative power of sound and meditation, leaving you feeling refreshed, balanced, and deeply connected.

Songwriters at Play presents touring duo Scott Cook and Pamela Mae at Humdinger in San Luis Obispo on Wednesday March 26. Tickets are $20 general admission for the 7pm concert.
Back when most venues were shuttered, we hosted Scott & Pamela on our front porch in Shell Beach. Scott was also featured on our showcase at Shell Cafe in Pismo Beach in 2014.
In 2007, Albertan songwriter Scott Cook quit his job teaching kindergarten in Taiwan and moved into a minivan. He’s made his living as a troubadour ever since, touring almost incessantly across Canada, the US, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere, averaging 120 shows and a dozen summer festivals a year, and releasing seven albums of plainspoken, keenly observant verse along the way. His 2020 collection Tangle of Souls came packaged in a cloth-bound, 240-page hardcover book of road stories and politico-philosophical musings. The album spent two weeks at #1 on Alberta's province-wide community radio network CKUA, and earned Scott his third Canadian Folk Music Award nomination, for English Songwriter of the Year. Its second single "Say Can You See" was the second most-played song of 2020 on Folk Alliance International's folk radio charts, and took top honors for the folk category in both the 2020 UK Songwriting Competition and the 2020 Great American Song Contest. Since early 2022 he's been touring steadily with his sweetheart Pamela Mae on upright bass, banjo and vocals, visiting 45 states, 8 Canadian provinces and a big portion of Australia. In 2025 they're releasing a new album called Troubadourly Yours with tours of North America, Europe and Australia to follow. Fresh from the open road, these are sturdy, straight-talking songs that see the good in you.

ABOUT US
Bret and Kimber Black are a ranching family originally from the Central Coast of California. Nine years ago, they made the bold decision to relocate their family and cattle ranch to Texas, where they have continued to pursue their passion for ranching.
Alongside raising their children in the heart of Texas ranch country, Bret and Kimber discovered a love for vintage and antique ranch items—a passion that eventually connected them with Kathy and Susi, the original founders of the esteemed Three Speckled Hens Vintage Market & Antique Show.
In Weatherford, the Blacks immerse their children in the ranching lifestyle, teaching them the values of hard work, resilience, and a deep respect for the land. The family enjoys exploring abandoned properties, clearing the land of remnants from the past, and bringing these forgotten treasures back to life. Kimber, with her love for all things old, carefully curates these items for the market, ensuring that each piece carries with it a story and a piece of history.
Together, Bret and Kimber blend their love for ranching and antiques, creating a life that honors the past and tells a story for future generations, both in their work and in raising their family!
You may find their unique Texas Finds in The Vintage Farm and Ranch booth at one of the events. Alongside a spectacular line up of local vintage and antique dealers.
Thank you for being here!
Sincerely, Kimber & Bret Black

RENT
Set in the East Village of New York City, Rent is about falling in love, finding your voice and living for today. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Rent has become a pop cultural phenomenon. with songs that rock and a story that resonates with audiences of all ages.
Based loosely on Puccini's La Boheme, Jonathan Larson's Rent follows a year in the life of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. The physical and emotional complications of the disease pervade the lives of Roger, Mimi, Tom and Angel. Maureen deals with her chronic infidelity through performance art; her partner, Joanne, wonders if their relationship is worth the trouble. Benny has sold out his Bohemian ideals in exchange for a hefty income and is on the outs with his former friends. Mark, an aspiring filmmaker, feels like an outsider to life in general. How these young bohemians negotiate their dreams, loves and conflicts provides the narrative thread to this groundbreaking musical.
