Fracking is a process used to extract natural gas and oil from deep rock formations. Dr. David Chipping has shared his wealth of knowledge about fracking with LLCC members and friends in a previous class and will update us with recent information. Fracking is controversial due to potential environmental impacts but has also helped to revitalize local economies in certain areas of the USA. Join us to learn more about fracking, California laws about fracking, new federal tariff impacts, fracking land use, who uses fracking, impact on gas prices, and more.
Dr. Chipping was born and raised in England, UK and obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Cambridge. He followed his parent’s move to the United States and obtained a Master of Science Degree/Geology from Stanford University. He also achieved his PhD at Stanford. Dr. Chipping taught Geology at the University of California, Davis and in 1971 he began lecturing at California Polytechnic State University.
