Saturday, 10/12 - 10-4pm: Morro Bay Maritime Free Family Fun Day at the Morro Bay Maritime Museum. The 3rd Annual family focused “carnival” of activities has maritime-approved food for a fee for adults and free hot dogs for the kids at Tognazinni’s Dockside Restaurants booth & Central Coast Women For Fisheries sell Albacore Avocado Bowls plus sandcastle building, fishing booth, bean bag toss, craft then sail a “gutter boat,” arts & crafts, diving suit photo-op, create fish prints, Salinan’s Native Storytelling Corner, live music by local musicians all day.
The 3rd Annual Blueberry blind tasting contest is at 11-Noon. Contenders are the 2023 winner Rudie’s Rock Espresso, plus Carla’s Country Kitchen, Rhapsody In View Boutique Hotel and Morro Bay Coffee Company. However, even the servers – current City Councilwomen Laurel Barton and Jen Ford, plus 2025’s newly seated Councilmembers Jeff Eckles and Bill Luffee – will know which blueberry muffin samples they are tasting until Rock Radio’s Deadair Dave announces the favorite at 12Noon. Paula Radke’s Glassworks trophy is the prize the winner will display all year. At 2pm, a chowder blind tasting competition is served by our 1st Responders - police, fire, harbor, and coast guard. The Ugly Mug Ceramics donated this prized hand-crafted trophy. Saturday Evening, 10/12 - 5:30-8pm: October 12th, Ahoy! the Morro Bay Chamber of Commerce and the Historic Bay Theater welcome all practicing and wannabe pirates to hunt for treasures before viewing the 1934 classic film Treasure Island—Robert Louis Stevenson’s story of swashbuckling foes and untrustworthy friends, buried doubloons and double crosses by Long John Silver foiled by young Jim Hawkins in their high stakes game of cat-and-mouse on the high seas. Directed by Victor Fleming, famed for The Wizard of Oz & Gone With the Wind, online tickets are $20 each and each comes with a Golden Ticket for treasures donated by downtown businesses.
