"Joyful Rhythms" Community Drumming Circle

Brought to you by Mindful Kindful YOUniversity

and The Diversity Coalition of SLO

Join us for an inclusive, fun-focused drum circle experience designed for people all ages, backgrounds, and rhythmical abilities. Together, we’ll create a space to “put down what’s heavy” and connect in community through uplifting rhythm, joy, and playfulness! Our circles are an invitation to unite in harmony and shared purpose. It’s a wonderful way to meet new people and find out that we have more in common than we realize!

Facilitated by Dee DiGioia of Mindful Kindful YOUniversity, this guided drumming experience offers a structured yet playful environment, welcoming everyone—whether you’re a seasoned drummer or completely new to drumming. NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!!!

In collaboration with The Diversity Coalition of SLO

This welcoming gathering creates a safe, inclusive, non-judgmental space for everyone to express and explore their rhythmical spirit in a supportive and uplifting environment. Learn more about what The Diversity Coalition is doing for our communities to keep everyone safe and informed through education: "To build and sustain a coalition that seeks a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive community through advocacy and education."

What to Expect:

Drumming together is a powerful way to build connection, foster a sense of belonging, and strengthen relationships. While we have fun, we’ll also embrace the deeper benefits of drumming, including stress relief, emotional release, and building resilience. Finding joy during challenging times is essential—it helps us navigate life with strength and positivity, reminding us of the power of community.

The Meaning Behind the Drum:
As the Bamana people of West Africa say, the djembe drum’s name comes from “Anke djé, anke bé,” meaning “Everyone gather together in peace.” Our circles are an invitation to unite in harmony and shared purpose, reminding us that we have more in common than we often realize.
