Mark your calendars because the Morro Bay Garden Tour is back! The tour is scheduled for Sunday, April 28th from 12-5pm. There are four gardens featured, and we highly recommend that you visit them all, however; the tour is self-guided and can be enjoyed at the pleasure of your own pace.

This is the major fundraiser for the Morro Bay Branch of the American Association of University Women. Proceeds are used for high school scholarships in Morro Bay, a nursing scholarship at Cuesta College and to send several 7th grade girls to a TECH summer camp at UC Monterey Bay in July, to study the STEM subjects.
THE GARDENS
LOVR turns into Pecho, left on Rodman, left on Travis
What an encore this garden is for retired musicians Bruce and Sue Morgenthaler. Earthscape’s Mike and Suzanne Morrison beautifully transformed this neglected space into a private, peaceful hidden garden in front and a magical rock-terraced garden out back. The plantings are colorful, dog friendly, and mostly drought tolerant. The yard is a canvas for mosaics and artistic surprises, including the mosaic mailbox next to the drive-way. Enjoy the magnificent view of Estero Bay as you wander down the oak-shaded rock walled path through beds of succulents and natives to the bottom of the yard and the dog run they built for their dog Leo.
LOVR, south on Alexander, left on Highland
Tara Nolan and Frank Perea immerse themselves in their garden. At their entrance is a profusion of Mexican sage, Bird of Paradise, Poppies, Succulents and Fuscias, all beneath a mammoth Live Oak. Their backyard is home to Stone Fruit, Citrus, Berries and Avoca-do trees…flowers cohabitate with huge veggie beds, and a large Black Sage doubles as a quail sanctuary. A Yellow Flannel bush screens off a spacious deck alongside a grassy entertainment area complete with an outdoor fireplace and barbecue. Frank waters all the plants by hand with loving care. So much to enjoy here…a working farm in the hills of a busy Los Osos neighborhood.

Welcome to the garden where Ann Hodges has commingled her own mosaic and glass work amongst Succulents, Ferns and other unusual plant species. Her backyard is a mar-velous splash of eye catching groupings of colorful plant filled pots, along with her own brightly painted totems and meticulously arranged garden art. And a special treat is that Ann will be selling selected pieces of her creative mosaics and stepping stones at the garden tour.
Hwy 1, east on San Jacinto, left on Birch
Only a true plant whisperer like Alaine Nadeau and her husband Frank could choreograph a multitude of vibrant flowering plants and coax them into such harmonious splendor. The home’s curbside is an explosion of colorful annuals, a diversity of Poppies, Nemesia and Love in the Mist, all mixed with Salvia and Peekaboo Pink Lilies. Step through the garden gate into a delightful patio filled with vines, shrubs, hanging plants, potted plants both common and exotic, and very unique garden art. Look for the bicycle hanging from a tree. The backyard includes vegetable beds and a very small avocado tree.
