Toxic stress impacts the mental and physical health of every generation, and ACEs, adverse childhood experiences, can create lifelong challenges for the individual and the community. This retreat focuses on nature as a protective and compensatory experience that can mitigate effects of toxic stress, and how to use nature connection to relieve symptoms of depression, anxiety, and overall brain health for yourself and the children in your life.
You will get the opportunity to participate in guided outdoor activities, learn from Kathleen Lockyer, an expert in nature connection for young children, and rediscover your own special connection to nature.

We can't know what the future brings.

But we DO know that too many people are suffering from toxic stress and trauma. We also know that Nature IS A Preventative And Compensatory Experience (PACE), one that can mitigate past and present effects of toxic stress. So why do children spend an average 90% of time indoors? What about you? How much time do you spend indoors?

Join Kathleen Lockyer of RxOutside in collaboration with the San Luis Obispo Botanical Gardens to learn WHY NATURE IS NECESSARY, why we must prioritize it—above organized sports and even education.

Experience essential practices for rebuilding your relationship with nature during a one-day in-person retreat with guided outdoor activities. Followed by a one hour group zoom a week after the retreat, and ongoing opportunities to stay engaged.

This retreat/workshop will help you understand what your neurology wants and how to nurture it. Once you match the 'why with the how' you will feel more confident leading yourself and others back to nature.
