Catherine Yom Litaker, harp virtuoso, will entertain with harp chamber music accompanied by Juan Antonio Rivera, flute, and Hilary Clark, cello.
The harp, with 47 strings, is unique among the instruments we hear in the orchestra. Like the piano, it is capable of playing melody and harmony at the same time, and, as we will hear, it is an ideal companion in chamber music with other instruments.
Harpist Catherine Yom Litaker is a rising star in the music world, and we are delighted to have her share her talents and music with you. Enjoy! Dr. Greg Magie, Music Director
Loving to teach and coach students, Catherine currently has a private studio, teaches masterclasses and workshops and is a coach for the Chicago Harp Ensemble.
Catherine received her Bachelor’s degree in Harp Performance from Indiana University, Jacobs School of Music where she studied with Susann Mcdonald with a minor in History. She then moved to Chicago to earn her Master’s degree from Roosevelt University, Chicago College of Performing Arts, where her teacher and mentor was Sarah Bullen, Principal Harpist of Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
