More than 20 songs from the catalogs of James Taylor and Carole King will be performed by pro touring and local musicians on Friday July 29 at Unity of Santa Maria, 1165 Stubblefield Rd., Orcutt. Tickets are $25, available at the door and also in advance right here.

The lineup includes Nashville-based touring artist Stacy Antonel; L.A.'s Mary Scholz, Jeanne Newhall, and Caitlin Mahoney; Santa Maria resident Donna Phillips; and San Luis Obispo-area musicians Elyse Black, Josh Rosenblum, Steve Key, and Bob & Wendy.

The concert is produced by Songwriters at Play, the partnership of husband-wife team, Steve Key and Bonnie Nelson-Key. Most of their events feature artists performing original material, but they have hosted many tributes over the years at Santa Barbara's SoHo and other venues. Their tribute subjects have included Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, Eric Clapton, Laura Nyro, and Sam Cooke.

Here are some bios for the artists:

Stacy Antonel is touring with her debut full-length album, titled "Always the Outsider", including tracks with Doug Pettibone (Lucinda Williams) on pedal steel and acoustic guitar, and Joe Reed (Merle Haggard) on bass. Website:  Stacy Antonel

Philadelphia native Mary Scholz grew up with a great appreciation for songwriting greats such as James Taylor and Joni Mitchell. Mary is set to release a new album, "Begin Again", this July. Sample her music at her website.

Donna Phillips collected 11 of her original songs on an album called Emergency Goddess. Her songs speak from the heart of love, memories and uplifting the spirit. Learn more at her website.

Caitlin Mahoney's voice has been praised as “powerful and soulful - a mix of Adele and Fiona Apple.” Since 2013, she has played more than 250 shows across the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain and Italy. Learn more at her website.

Jeanne Newhall first played one of our events seven years ago, joining us for a tribute to Tom Waits. She's since played many of Songwriters at Play concerts, including tributes to Laura Nyro, Carole King, and Joni Mitchell. The LA-based pianist has released more than 300 songs on 23 albums, airing on thousands of radio stations and streaming services. Learn more at her website.
