Come celebrate Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) in our studio followed by a "field trip" to the Atown Art Hop, should you choose to join us! The Art Hop is downtown Atascadero from 6-9pm and includes 30 businesses and 40 plus artists some with live demonstrations. There will be live bands and food trucks and some of the businesses will have snacks & drinks as part of their event.
Traditionally Day of the Dead (Dia De Los Muertos) is a two-day holiday that reunites the living and dead. Families create ofrendas (offerings) to honor their departed family members that have passed. These altars are decorated with bright yellow marigold flowers, photos of the departed, and the favorite foods and drinks of the one being honored. The offerings are believed to encourage visits from the land of the dead as the departed souls hear their prayers, smell their foods and join in the celebrations!
During this Open Studio afternoon, you will have the opportunity to create a mini altar (or several) to honor a loved one. Please bring one or more photos of those you wish to honor. These photos need to be able to be cropped to the size of a sardine can. You are welcome to bring your own tin or small box if you wish. If not, you can also create an altar using the sugar skull embellishments provided. All supplies to create your masterpiece(s) will be provided.
Cost is $20 to make as many mini altars as your heart desires. Light snacks and drinks will be provided. All ages are welcome with the accompaniment of a parent or friend over the age of 18.

Payment is non-refundable but if you are unable to attend due to circumstances out of your control, we can credit you towards a future workshop or event.
If this event allows ticket transfers, you can transfer tickets to someone else by going into your confirmation email > View & Manage Order > Edit Ticket Info / Transfer.
From there, you can change the name on the ticket & email it to the transferred person.
All ages are welcome. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
