The San Luis Obispo County Jazz Federation is privileged to showcase the 2024 winners of our "Young Jazz" music scholarships on Sunday March 17 at 4pm at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church in San Luis Obispo. The student musicians will play individual and group selections, accompanied by Gary Drysdale on guitar, Ken Hustad on bass and Darrell Voss on drums. This program, started in 1984, awards scholarships to talented and deserving students from local high schools and colleges in an effort to further musical development and to keep the jazz tradition alive. The scholarships are funded by the Jazz Federation through donations. The award winners this year are Skylar Cappelli, Spencer Hafley, Miles Kennedy, Ryan Nolan, Vanessa Rivera and Wyatt Willard.
The show starts at 4 pm (with doors opening at 3:30). Admission is FREE but on-site donations are encouraged and appreciated. "Tickets" are available at the door or through my805. Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church is located at 1701 Fredericks Street in SLO. See www.slojazz.org for more information.
